July, 9, 2005.  NDF today demanded resignation of the Kerala state legislative assembly speaker, Mr. Therambil Ramakrishnan  for his participatory role in the State-level cultural festival of  RSS run`Balagokulam' held on  February 4 at Kottayam.   By accepting the chief patronship of  a function organized by RSS, he degraded the position and  his constitutional authority as a speaker, NDF leaders said.

`Balagokulam', is  a RSS sponsored  mass organisation for children with over 1,300 units in the State, organises the high-visibility "Srikrishna Jayanti rally and celebrations" in various cities and towns every year. Thousands of children participate in the event without knowing the intentions of hindutva fascist ideology of RSS. In addition, it runs Balasamskara Kendras (children's cultural centres) at five centres; `Sowrakshika', an organisation for the protection of children's rights; Mayilpeeli, a magazine; and `Amrita Bharati Vidya Peetom', a centre for the promotion of Sanskrit and Hindu culture.

Balagokulam claims a membership of over 26,000 children, who attend weekly catch-them-young classes. The aim is to groom them as leadership material for other Hindutva activities.
The current speaker of Kerala Legislative assembly, Mr. Therambil Ramakrishan was  a well known leader of upper caste hindu organization called, Nair Service society (NSS) and its old political wing, NDP.  Later he joined Indian National Congress.  Recall that even before Independence , the Congress accommodated several prominent Hindu Rashtra ideologues within itself. In Kerala, Congress party has played a  flip-flop with regard to the implementation of Narendran Commission report which was vehemently opposed by NSS and sanghparivar forces.
