Policing for Hindutva NDF which has been charged by Neera Rawat, former Kozhikode City Police Commissioner (March 22, 1997 to May 16 1999) of links with Pakistan's intelligence service ISI and Iran has strongly denied the allegation as baseless and asked further probe in to the existing axis between some police officers with sangh parivar forces. NDF leaders said that Rawat's testimony was based on the same documents presented by Mr. Kummanam Rajashekharan, Hindu Aikya Vedi leader, one year back (16-04-2004 ) to the Maraad Judicial Commission. Rawat revealed that she recieved the report from special branch police and claimed the report was highly confidential. Contradictory to her current statement, RSS run Malayalam news paper "Janmabhoomi", published the same report a long back. Later, the RSS newspaper was compelled to publish a public apology statement in its own front page, as the issue was raised in the court. The whole drama is an ample proof of existing axis between some police officers and RSS. NDF leaders said the report quotes some persons who have been never related to NDF too. If the alleagations are based on true facts, she should have been able to proceed against NDF, but she admitted to the commission that she failed to proceed the issue further.
"It is quite unfair that police officers who should support and protect the country, by maintaining “Rule of Law” airing the same views of hindutva fascists who are keen to stamp every indian muslim as an antinational. " NDF chairman, E.M.Abdul Rahman, general secretary, Nasiruddin Elamaram told reporters here.
"Let the government order an impartial probe into the allegations to identify the real culprits behind fake intelligence reports like this. It is up to the government to act quickly against these real antinational elements, who always interested in spreading rumours, and making communal violence and preventing our nation from dveloping further. ", they said.” It is regrettable that such a responsible police officer has made an irresponsible statement, without taking in to consideration of the sources behind such fake news which has been active in Kerala Police for a long time “
Recently, some part of kerala’ media has been keen to air bogus stories about upcoming bomb blasts, expecting ships with arsenals from Dubai to Kerala coasts, etc by quoting the same fake intelligence reports. Such fake stories are only intended to prevent developmental efforts of the government by keeping public in panic and to stamp every Muslim as antinational.
The evil axis between hindutva fascists and some part of Kerala police is not new, Report of the Justice Joseph Vithyathil Commission on the Tellicherry riots, 1971 says:
"The evidence of the deputy SP says that while on patrol duty he had to curb many among his rank and file who could not restrain themselves when they met Muslims on the road. Similar evidence was given by the sub-collector and other witnesses who have testified saying that while chasing away some Muslims many policemen yelled at them to go to Pakistan. At Mattambaram one or two of them got into the mosque and besides beating Usmankutty Haji, a very respectable person, broke the tube-light and chandeliers in the mosque. There is nothing to show that there was any justification for this action...So far as the minorities are concerned, it is the feeling among them that they are nor getting justice, that they are discriminated against in the matter of appointments in the Public Services, that they do not get equal protection of the law and that their religion is in danger, that prompts them to rally around religious organisations of their own. It is of the greatest importance that appropriate steps are taken by the government to remove the cause for such feelings in the minorities. There is much truth in saying that if you want peace you must work justice."
