KOZHIKODE: The National Development Front (NDF) has termed as unethical the statement by Justice K.K. Narendran against special recruitment drive to fill the backlog of backward classes in government services. In a statement issued after the NDF secretariat meeting, general secretary Nazarudheen Elamaram said the Narendran Commission was asked to find out the lack of representation in government service and not to suggest remedies. But still the Commission report had suggested the Government to find ways to fill the backlog. It was not the personal opinion of Justice Narendran but the collective decision of the three-member Commission, it said.
Raising objection against special recruitment after three years will not only affect Justice Narendran's credibility, but also spoil the decency of the Commission. It alleged that Justice Narendran was only parroting what Vellapalli Natesan and P.K. Narayana Panicker said on the issue. It is not a coincidence that Justice Narendran's ‘revelations' and the joint statement of Natesan and Panicker appeared on the same day. It has become clear that all the reactionary forces have joined hands to dissuade the Oommen Chandy Government from going ahead with special recruitment, the statement said.
