The National Development Front (NDF) has decided to  petition the Marad Judicial Inquiry Commission to investigate the activities of organisations, including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), that is  involved in many criminal cases in the state.  Addressing a press conference at Kozhikode  on Tuesday, NDF chairman E.M. Abdurehman, and supreme council members E. Aboobaker and A. Saeed said  NDF was expecting justice from the judiciary in view of the unholy nexus of the RSS,  some  police force and media persons to defame the NDF. Some media wanted poeple to believe the  investigation centred  on the NDF, but the truth is that NDF is not a party of the incident.
In fact, NDF was the first to demand a judicial probe into the massacre of nine persons at Marad village in Kozhikode district on May 2, 2003.   RSS, with the support of some police officers, is  attempting to make the Commission an investigative agency against the NDF. Earlier investigation by the Crime Branch had ruled out the involvement of the NDF in the massacre. The former Director-General of Police K.J. Joseph had said that the carnage was a sequel of the communal conflagration in January 2002. This was also the opinion of the Inspector-General of Police (Crimes) Mahesh Kumar Singla. However, the Sangh Parivar was trying to make the Commission a platform to pinpoint the involvement of the NDF in the gruesome incident, Mr. AbduRahman said.
NDF workers were not involved in the communal riots of January 2002 and the May 2 massacre whereas activist of the RSS, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian Union Muslim League were arrayed as accused in the incidents. The background of the activities of these organisations should also be probed.
