Kozhikode. To celebrate our nation's Independence Day, The National Development Front (NDF), Kerala will hold freedom parades in various cities in Kerala on August 15, 2007. The aim of the parade is to create public awareness on the freedom guaranteed by constitution of India . It also prepare its citizens to take initiative to protect their freedom and to be vigilant against evil and fascist forces. |

By Pervez Bari, Indian Muslims.INFO  Hodari Abdul-Ali, addressing the conference Bangalore, February 18 (IndianMuslims): A massive turn-out exhibiting show of strength and solidarity of the underprivileged and the marginalized sections of Indian society at the public meeting here on late Saturday evening to mark the conclusion of the three-day Empower India Conference pumped the spirits of one and all involved in the mega event.All roads led to Shaheed Tipu Sultan Nagar in Palace ground wherein delegates from all over India and specially Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka converged in the most disciplined manner to leave the Bangalore district and police administration spell-bound with no untoward incident reported, howsoever small it may be. According to a rough estimate over 50,000 people assembled and dispersed quietly leaving policemen sitting idle and dosing. The organizers about 2000 voluntary force worked to perfection as the public meeting went through with precision as planned out making happy to the hilt one and all present on the occasion.

 Islamophobia in Action It was a slightly surreal experience transiting through a series of airports in the week following the British announcement of a discovery of a new conspiracy to blow up a vast number of planes in midair. British home secretary John Reid’s statement on August 10 declared rather dramatically that his country was engaged in a "long, wide and deep struggle against very evil people", and also that his government had the total support of all the opposition parties. Who were these "very evil people"? Reid was careful to note that "this is not a case of one civilisation against another, one religion against another", but other statements notably one by President Bush once more brought to the forefront that the source of the problem lay in Islam, even if he specified that rather than all Muslims, "this nation (the US) is at war with Islamic fascists". |
